Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to buy fencing equipment right away?

For our Intro to Fencing Program, all necessary equipment is provided at no additional cost to all students in this program.

Our equipment is thoroughly and regularly sanitized after every use. However, if you’d like to purchase your own set of fencing equipment for this program, we carry a stock of brand-new, basic fencing equipment available for immediate purchase.

  • What happens after the Intro Program?

Once you or your child move into the Beginner/Intermediate classes, you’ll need your own basic gear (mask, glove, jacket, pants, etc.). We unfortunately do not offer any equipment rentals.

We can also help you purchase your own gear directly through trusted suppliers at retail price. The equipment we source exceeds the equipment standards established by USA Fencing (the official governing body of all fencing in the United States).

  • How do I register for classes?

You can contact us directly here. Payments are processed on the start of each billing cycle on the 1st of every month (monthly or 3-month options). Payments can be made online or directly to us via check.

  • Which class should I register for?

Intro Program: If you’re brand new to fencing with no experience.

Beginner/Intermediate: After completing the Intro Program or with minimal experience (less than 1 year).

Advanced: For experienced and competitive fencers who have instructor approval.

  • How many classes can I attend each week?

Your membership covers 2–3 scheduled group classes per week depending on your level. We highly recommend attending a minimum of 2 classes per week.

Private lessons are optional and can be added separately for an additional fee.

  • What about if I miss a class?

We understand that life often throws surprises at us and we inevitably will miss a class or lesson here and there. Unfortunately, we do not offer any make-up classes. Our regular schedule typically provides class offerings to ensure that each student has enough practice time each week.

  • When can I move up to the next level?

Progression is based on coach evaluation of skills, consistency, and readiness.

We believe in data-driven results, rather than feeling or guess-work. Student’s progress are all tracked by a combination of performance data, attendance, and participation.

Parents will receive feedback, and fencers must demonstrate technical ability, focus, and control before moving into the next tier by the Coach’s recommendations.

  • What is Open Bouting? Can I attend?

Open bouting sessions are open practice sessions where fencers have the opportunity to freely practice with other students of different levels/classes. FULL ELECTRIC fencing equipment will be required in order to attend, no exceptions. Attendance will be limited to students at the Advanced and Intermediate levels, with certain students at the Beginner level permitted, with coach’s permission.

During open bouting sessions, students are fully expected to warm-up, stretch, suit-up, and fence entirely on their own without coach’s supervision. Please keep in mind this is NOT a group class.

  • Can parents request early class advancement?

We encourage open conversations, but coaches will provide data-based feedback (attendance, competition and overall performance results, skill checklists) to ensure athletes are fully prepared before advancing to the next level of class.

  • When can my child start competing?

Beginner/Intermediate fencers: May enter local “novice” or youth tournaments after a few months of training. After approximately 5 local tournaments, we recommend fencers to begin preparing to participate in regional-level competitions.

Advanced fencers: Actively train and compete in regional and national-level competitions.

  • How does Titan support competitors?

    - Competition scheduling guidance.

    - Coach presence at select events.

    - Support with USA Fencing membership and tournament registration.

Coach presence at select events will be determined by Titan Fencing Coaches and is NOT guaranteed at every competition.
